The “Five Spiritual Laws of
Care and Kindness”

— by Dr. James R. Kok

There may be more laws, but I believe these five are basic.

I will elaborate on them in one of my primary presentations at our Care and Kindness gathering in March. I firmly believe this handful ought to be tattooed on our hearts and brains so that we carry the agenda of Care and Kindness everywhere we go.

With the help of Dan Whedon, our conference photographer, we plan to have wallet-sized reproductions of The Five Spiritual Laws of Care and Kindness. I hope there will be a big enough pile that everyone can take a few home to hand out to others.

1. Everyone needs my encouragement and support and to be noticed personally and respectfully by me.

2. I have the capacities, qualities and abilities that can brighten another’s life, or help them to face tough challenges.

3. Care and Kindness, whether it’s my smile, a word of thanks, a visit or treating another fairly, builds hope in that person’s heart and opens them to God’s love.

4. Care and kindness toward anyone is Care and Kindness to the Lord.

5. Care and Kindness is infectious. Others catch it and pass it on!

We really, truly, want to change human behavior, especially our own— to become more consistent, generous, and courageous deliverers of God's good news in the form of CARE AND KINDNESS.
